Day 4. Last day in Milan

Sunday was our last day in Milan and despite the threat of rain, Maite took us to the artist district of the city along their grand canal.  It was too bad that the rain started as the art work was put away and the crowds diminished.
We walked thru the old walls of the city to a domed cathedral where a singer was practicing for a performance that evening. Great bonus.
After a good lunch at a local pub we went by subway to the museum of contemporary art.  There was a great display of old masters and more modern names. The building it was in was a former palace for a wealthy family and the collection was maintained by volunteers.  Interesting.
We did a walk thru of the fashion district of the city.  Fortunately (for me) most of the stores were closed for the day.
We had a great long supper with Maite in the evening as we repacked to leave in the morning.  Milan has been a great start to our trip.
