Day 6. Full day at Lake Garda

There was a big change in the weather overnight. The rain cleared and the sun came up bright and warm over the lake and into our room.

After a nice breakfast on the patio we set off to Gardone to see the Heller botanical garden that we had seen advertised. It was a couple of kms away so we took the car. There were some very narrow streets to get to it, but we made it finally.

The gardens were nice and we explored Gardone before we headed back to the car. We had both missed the fact the parking lot was pay as you go and we had a ticket when we got back in a couple of hours. A 40 euro fine! Talk about a cash cow.

We had to go to the post office to pay the ticket.  It seems to happen a lot according to the hotel staff.

We had a nice lunch by the walking park along the water front of Salo and then explored the town.

It is a pretty place that deals with a lot of tourists but was very quiet when we were there. Most things shut down from 12 to 3 as is usual in Italy so after looking around we went back to the Laurin and relaxed by the pool. This was the first time we did not need a jacket with us and we had to use sunscreen to sit out.

I had made arrangements to visit the Salo e Desenzaon del Garda Rotary club at their regular Tuesday evening meeting in Gardone. Barbara and I went and presented them with one of our banners. I also give one of our club's pins to a member who helped us the most during the meeting.  It's always interesting to see  how other clubs operate.
